been watching the three news networks all afternoon. the only person who has uttered the word "crosshairs" or who has referred to the threats against Giffords - is Giffords herself! this is in a video from last march, which i have included in the previous post.
nobody has acknowledged that the Tea Party and Tea Party candidates have been "targeting" the congresswoman throughout 2010. she was the only Democrat in Arizona to win a congressional election last November.
there’s been barely a mention of her opposition to Arizona’s contentious immigration policy.
yes, Laughner appears on the surface to be a looney. but that shouldn’t rule out that he may have been motivated by the "targeting" of Rep. Giffords.

the man who shot Rep. Giffords and 17 others today is identified as Jared Lee Laughner. this is his high school yearbook pic from 2006.
he had a MySpace page which has been taken down.
here is a video from his Youtube pageposted three weeks ago. can't make much sense of it - apparantly he was a student at Pima County Community College and had some dispute over tuition, which he characterized as 'unconstitutional', and he refers, in the abstract, to being removed from the campus by police because of 'speaking".

i spoke on thursday about events accelerating this month and next, and i fear this is the first significant event.
the crazies have emerged from the woodwork of America.
Representative Gabrielle Giffords, a Democrat from Arizona, was shot in the head - point blank - and possibly 18 others were shot outside a Tucson grocery store this morning. Giffords was hosting a "Congress on Your Corner" event in a Safeway parking lot.
she is in reported to be 'in surgery' as i write this.
Giffords was listed on Sarah Palin's sarahpac.com site as one of 20 democrats "targeted" in a graphic with crosshairs over her congressional district.
the graphic has now been removed from that site. (i have not heard mention of this graphic on any of the cable news outlets so far.)
motive of the gunman - described by witnesses as a young man in his teens or early twenties - remains unknown, but this is Arizona, where immigration and other issues may have been a factor.
in November, Giffords won a tough campaign for re-election against a Tea-Party opponent.

A glass panel at her office was shattered, and at the time her staff said that it appeared the window had been damaged by a pellet gun.

Fox News just reported that Federal District Judge John M. Roll was among those killed in the parking lot today.
there is a live picture from a local TV station displayed on Fox news right now - a press conference from the hospital - the local station: KGUN.
besides the sarahpac.com crosshair image, many other such metaphorical threats have targeted at Rep. Giffords. Just look at this campaign ad run by her opponent last June:

we the people of the United States in order to form a more perfect union elected Republicans and Tea Party idiots to the congress. these Republicans and Tea Partier pledged sweeping reforms and bold new strategies to make this country great again. they set broad new goals intending to cure what they saw as longstanding ills in our nation. today was the first full session of the new congress – what was achieved?
the constitution was read. at a cost of over a million dollars of your tax money – they read aloud the document on which all of our laws are supposed to adhere to.
this was a stalling tactic because they have no idea what to do. they have no idea how to achieve what they said they intended to do – and to mask the fact that they have no bold new approach. the Republican party intends to do what it usually does – give gifts to corporations and cutting taxes for the fattest of the fat-cat banksters.
case in point – representative Diane Black, a new Republican congresswoman from Tennessee arguing for repeal of that muslim-socialist health care act because – because health care act would force insurance companies to insure sick children. imagine that – an insurance company might have to pay out just because your children needed medical attention. that’s socialism – and everybody knows that real American children don’t get sick like those Mexican anchor babies.
if health care is so un-American – why do members of Congress and their families receive it? should they be entitled to something that they are trying to take away from the rest of us. “Of course we should!” declared tea party sponsored Congressman Michael Grimm from Staten Island. what if my kid were to get sick? the Republican rules committee re-wrote the rules of this Congress – and in doing so rejected a proposal to disclose what health care members of Congress and their families receive courtesy of your tax dollars. transparency indeed.

(that sounds like a Roger Ailes idea to me.) in fact the there’s such a fever for transparency that this health care resolution repeal must be cloaked in the fear mongering language of Fox News – so ordinary beer-drinking thorazine addled Americans can understand what’s at stake. after all – you would gladly sacrifice your children’s health care if you understood that insuring your kids was - killing jobs! wouldn’t you – or wouldn’t ya?

Scientists employed by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president of the UAE and leader of Abu Dhabi, successfully created more than 50 rainstorms in the state's Al Ain region last year, mostly in July and August when there is virtually no rain at all.
They have been using giant ionisers, shaped like giant lampshades, to generate fields of negatively charged particles, which create cloud formation.
Helmut Fluhrer, the founder of Metro Systems International, the Swiss company in charge of the project, said: "We are currently operating our innovative rainfall enhancement technology, Weathertec, in the region of Al Ain in Abu Dhabid. We started in June 2010 and have achieved a number of rainfalls."
