dvtv live broadcast 2.2.12: WAR ON THE POOR

what romney said after winning florida about not caring about the very poor – yes it was taken out of context – but it was a crass and despicable statement nonetheless – at a time when so many people are out of work – this country has an effective twenty per cent unemployment – a statement like that could only come from filthy-rich scumbag like romney. and romney is not amoung the one-per-cent nor is he amoung the point- one-per-cent nor is he amoung the point-zero-one-per-cent.

willard mitt romney is amoung the point-zero-zero-two-five-per-cent richest in the country. now many people tell me – 'you can’t hold it against him that he’s rich'.

why the fuck not?

this “likes-to-fire-people” motherfucker made his millions by bankrupting companies – firing american workers – and exporting their jobs to china. companies went bankrupt – americans lost jobs – stockholders left holding worthless paper – and bain capitol made billions. i hold it against him not only because he’s so rich - but because he made his quarter-billion-dollars bankrupting american companies - putting americans out of work. he’s a huge part of the problem.

gingrich who has considerably less millions than romney – he’s even worse suggesting child labor for poor school children - stating that poor youth don’t understand making money unless its illegal and throwing in the race card for good measure. this is class warfare indeed – this is a republican-led war on the poor.

remember who got blamed for the world financial collapse three years ago – not the banks – it was all those - poor people who signed morgages. yeah - all those poor people - hoodwinked those international banks out of trillions – with-their paper signing skills. poor people know how to trick banks - yeah. just today the governer of illinois signed a right-to work law – that’s twenty-two states now – restricting union activity in the workplace.

about michigan governor scotty- boy walker last year – attacking union rights and pensions of teachers – nurses – firefighters – he’s now threatened by a recall and good riddance if he goes. i just said – republican-led attack on the poor – it’s more like an all-out assault on everybody who isn’t a millionaire – that’s about – uhhhh – ninety-nine per-cent of us.

which brings us to barak obama – your other choice on our limited democracy menu.

obama’s in full campaign-pledge mode now- which is why i tune him out – i still remember the one’s he came up with four years ago – there was one about guantanamo bay –there was one about day one bringing the troops home from afganaistan –well the military’s bigger than the president – war on terror and all that – there was one about comfortable shoes…

dvtv live broadcast 01.26.12: MR. ANSWER MAN

Our world experienced so many changes in the past year - and 2012 promises even more. With every change, another question arises. Indeed -- some of you may find yourselves overwhelmed with questions.
Tonight as a public service of dvtv live and Manhattan Neighborhood Network, we are proud to present - Mister Answer Man, responding in person to your emailed questions.
Each viewer email received is carefully filed and tabulated by a faceless server located in Bangalore -- and some of the emails are actually read.
emily_2525 of Manhattan writes:
Dear Mister Answer Man,
On Tuesday night Obama pledged to form a special unit to investigate fraud in the financial sector. Does this mean that the banksters who crashed the world economy will finally be held accountable for putting so many people out of their homes?

A: Actually - no. What this means is some low-level administrator will be offered up as a sacrifice. This also means that we will learn every last detail of this unfortunate person's miserable life -- as mainstream media and cable news will blast them incessantly throughout the course of his three-year trial.
Remember: wealthy white men are never held accountable for their crimes -- especially if billions of dollars are involved.

Stefanie: a message from lizzettelee3200 in Nutley, New Jersey:
Dear Mister Answer Man,
I was shocked to learn that one of the leading republican presidential candidates would consider making all forms of birth control illegal. This particular candidate would also make abortions illegal, even in the case of pregnancies resulting from rape.
His view is that Jesus would want me to have the rapist's baby.
How can a man with such views be even taken seriously in the year 2012?

A: I'm afraid you are not considering the entire question. Rick Santorum is a deeply religious man.
Perhaps Jesus does want you to have the rapist's baby.

dvtv live broadcast 11.17.11: NO SELLOUT

"...Long before New York became the financial capitol of the world, New York was the staging ground for world-famous, world-class public protests.

There's been demonstrations going on in Manhattan since the nineteenth century. Like any other public event - accommodations must be made for the masses of people who attend these public demonstrations.

This simple fact of life-in-the-big-city seems to be somehow lost on the current city administration. Over the years the Bloomberg administration's response to mass demonstrations: unwarranted surveillance, harassment, impediment, random arrests, mass arrests, random violence, pepper spray and ear-pain-guns.

When a city and a police department refuse to make accommodations for a mass public event - things happen - like pepper spraying women for holding a sign -- or unknown liquids getting thrown on cops. The absolute insistence that all demonstrations take place on a small part of the sidewalk - and the absurd notion that no one can be inconvenienced by a demonstration - results in scuffles over barricades and arrests for blocking traffic and endless lawsuits and injuries to both cops and passers-by.

Then there are more deliberate forms if civil disobedience - like the ninety-nine union members - who sat down in the middle of chambers street earlier this evening -- in front of many news cameras police-on their-best-behavior immediately arrested those ninety-nine union members. Among those ninety-nine - not an accidental number -- City Council member Jumaane Williams of Brooklyn.

About those ear pain guns -- lets run the slideshow -- downtown earlier today - this is the LRAD high-pitched sound blaster designed to deter pirate boats and terrorists at least a quarter mile away -- its called a distance-hailing-and-crowd-control-device, originally developed to warn incoming vessels approaching without permission. The LRAD 100X can be cranked up to an incredible 172 decibels. Human hearing is immediately damaged at 140 decibels.

Here is a picture that needs to be seen more -- this is eighty-four-year-old Dorli Rainey. She's a retired school teacher pepper sprayed over the weekend at occupy Seattle -- this is the result of an increasingly militarized police culture in the United States and a militarized culture needs an enemy to fight -- that enemy is the public.

The police were once considered part of the community -- now its an occupying army.

From Warsaw, one clever activist outfoxed the riot police - this video from latajacakamera on YouTube -- this is a flying drone, a Polish-built Robokopter -- police don't even seem to notice it. But if used here it would be dubbed a terror device.

Just like Bloomberg did today at an afternoon press conference where he described metal-tube like devices protesters planned to use to chain themselves to the doors of the stock exchange. This was the best you could come up with? Metal tubes? No dirty bombs or anti-capitalism nerve gas?"

dvtv live broadcast 11.10.11: LONG COLD WINTER

"...the occupiers down in Zuccotti Park were wise not to hone a clear message because we are dealing with a moving target – the economic system is a morphing shape-shifting beast and a nervous one at that.
...to my friends at Zuccotti park - and hundreds of other occupations nationwide – some unsolicited advice. your prime target – and the one thing that causes us so much pain – is the obscene amounts of raw cash that flows from corporate intrests into elected officials pockets. best-selling author Herman Cain (you don’t really believe he’s running for president) - Herman Cain suggested that the occupiers should target the White House instead of Wall Street. Horn-Dog Herman is half-right. until the lobbiests are outlawed – as they are in many other governments – until the cash stops flowing into the accounts of the president – congress – and other elected officials – the system is rigged to favor the very rich and screw the working man. changing the status quo is always a long and arduous process. Revolutions don’t happen overnight – witness what’s happened in Egypt and Libya. true change isn’t easy – especially when you are fighting the largest and most powerful government on the planet. With a full moon over manhattan you are watching the last bastion of the first amendment..."

SHOOT THE MESSINGER

or in this case the Oakland PD shoots the camera person:

this description from antiprocon via YouTube:

While filming a police line at Occupy Oakland after midnight on Nov. 3 following the Nov. 2 general strike, an officer opens fire and shoots me with a rubber bullet. I was standing well back. There was no violence or confrontations of any kind underway. At 0:31 seconds you can see a tall officer in the front raise his weapon and then fire. This is the full clip of the incident.

you can even hear a voice, probably that of the cameraperson, asking the cops: "here? is this OK?"
sure, pal. jus' stand riiiiight there...

dvtv live broadcast 11.03.11: RESISTANCE

Michael Bloomberg - America's twelfth-richest man -- blames congress for the financial collapse and claims that the protesters have chosen a totally inappropriate target in wall street - as if the banks were ever forced to do anything. The banks rushed into a loan market because of greed -- plain and simple. Congress merely laid the groundwork; besides mister mayor -- you know damn well that there is a mechanism to hold congress accountable -- it's called an election. You might remember your last one -- you stole it.

As the occupy movements fight colder weather and police harassment and violence -- they are also fighting elements within their own. Violent demonstrators willing to provoke police and destroy property provide an excuse for authorities to attack a demonstration. Up till now the American public largely supports the aims of the demonstrators -- and largely supports the non-violent movement. Many in power who wish to see the movement fail know all-too-well: images of masked or helmeted youths throwing Molotov Cocktails or smashing storefronts on American television screens would derail the movement in a media minute.

dvtv live broadcast 10.27.11: CLAMPDOWN OWS

...this is a part of a measured tactic to discredit the protesters by making them violent - physically attack a peaceful march to turn it into a riot...

Occupy is the little movement that could, and each time it gets brutalized by the authorities its numbers swell. With each arrest the support and the sympathy grows. Indeed – many have questioned the motives of the protesters, many have speculated on the agenda, but nobody is denying that there is a problem. Though calls for a concise set of demands from the protesters seem logical and reasonable the reasonable response seems to be – its not one thing – its everything. You are not dealing with a group leader or spokesperson, but you are dealing with an angry public, profoundly dissatisfied with where their hard earned tax dollars are going.

dvtv live broadcast 10.06.11: OCCUPIED

...featuring dvtv live producer Blade Branstrom and his exclusive footage from the Wall Street Occupation.

Just nineteen days into the occupation, the president of the United States acknowledged their influence in the 2012 presidential campaign.

Just nineteen days ago the press all but ignored them.

Nineteen days ago they couldn't even get arrested.

When airline pilots and steelworkers and bus drivers and the AFL-CIO and world famous scholars and congressmen and movie stars start showing up at Zuccotti park to support this soggy group of hippies – the media attacks the message.

Occupy wall street has no message!

This is a non-event - vapid and meaningless.

There is no leader – there is no message. Only – the non-message spreads – there’s occupy Boston and occupy Los Angeles and occupy Boise, Idaho for crissakes. Not only do scholars and movie stars and union presidents get it, thousands of people across the country get it. Obama gets it. Even Ben Bernanke gets it.

So I’ll use a line from Marlon Brando to answer the question:
what are they rebelling against?

What do ya got?

You got the highest unemployment in sixty years. You got very few jobs with pitiful wages, constant efforts to eliminate minimum wage. You got pensions, retirement funds gutted, massive tax cuts for millionaires, mind boggling tax refunds for corporations, hundreds of billions in bailouts to the people who gambled the morgage. You got union busting at the private, corporate, state and federal level. You got across the board corporate deregulation breeding economic and ecological ruin on huge stretches of america. You got endless attacks on the safety nets for the working poor and the elderly the very people who are suffering the most right now. Without safety nets - everything slams to the ground with a sickening thud - with a resounding splat...
like the Euro - and soon - the dollar.

You got useless and endless wars that get more expensive more secretive more mysterious more covert and therfore more nebulous unnacountable and nefarious as the years drag on.

This country has been in a permanent state of war for ten years now. We can’t even make a profit from it. What’s happened to this country?!

BRING IT ON

NY TIMES: ROMNEY LIKENS WALL STREET
PROTESTS TO ‘CLASS WARFARE’

“I think it’s dangerous — this class warfare,” Mr. Romney said.

Didn't Mittens get the memo? "Class Warfare" is verboten speech, because the 1% has realized - they are outnumbered 99 to 1!

OWS, and Occupy Los Angeles (and Occupy Boise, Idaho for that matter) seem to be saying - "Class Warfare? Bring it on!"

Of course it is dangerous, Mittens. Democracy is a dangerous thing.

While the protests have generally been nonviolent, the police in New York arrested 700 people on Saturday after some demonstrators marched on the roadway of the Brooklyn Bridge.

BTW - Times editors- please - the last 'graph implies that Saturday's Brooklyn Bridge march was violent. Not even the NYPD or Bloomberg are claiming that.

Please NYTimes, don't stoop to this king of innuendo - you are better than Fox News (well, sometimes).

NY TRANSIT UNION: WE WON'T BUS ARRESTED OWS PROTESTERS

The TWU is standing up for the occupiers with more than just words...
from thinkprogress.org

The Transport Workers Union is going to court today in hopes of blocking New York City from forcing bus drivers to transport any Occupy Wall Street protesters after the New York police department commandeered at least three buses to take many of the 700 protesters off the Brooklyn Bridge this weekend. Last week, the TWU voted to support the Occupy Wall Street movement and called the order to bus prisoners “a blatant act of political retaliation.”

from the Daily News:

"TWU Local 100 supports the protesters on Wall Street and takes great offense that the mayor and NYPD have ordered operators to transport citizens who were exercising their constitutional right to protest - and shouldn't have been arrested in the first place," [Transport Workers Union president John] Samuelsen said Sunday night.

At least five empty buses were commandeered from terminal points on both sides of the bridge, Samuelsen said.

Here's Samuelsen, in plain language, explaining why the TWU voted solidarity with OWS. (They now have "a couple hundred members" who joined the occupation.)

OWS "HIPPIES" NOT GOING HOME

Because the NYPD and Bloomberg at first were secure that the Occupy Wall Street protesters would be ignored, they surmised that a few dozen hippies would just give up and go home.
Three weeks in, they try mass arrests - and end up as BBC News’ top story. Now the City cannot ignore the growing numbers, the growing support, and the growing attention paid to OWS.
As for the complaints of a lack of a specific complaint, muddled message, or lack of focus, people in Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston, and even in Toronto who have formed "solidarity" protests seem to know exactly what OWS is saying.
So next expect the City to pressure Brookfield Properties, owners of Zuccotti Park, to take legal action to drive the protestors from the encampment.
However, after three weeks of international attention - and hundreds of people willing to sleep outdoors in the rain - there is very little the City can do other than pepper spray peaceful women and arrest these people.
Whatever the City decides to do - ignore them or bust them - this has past the point where OWS will fold their tents and go quietly into the night.
If significant numbers of union members join the camp out on Wednesday (I'm predicting they will), then OWS will grow into the major issue of the 2012 elections.

HOSTAGE TAKING WORKS

worked for John Boehner and the Tea Party who took the entire nation hostage - and won!

the budget deal announced tonight is a bust for everybody - and won't help our vaulted "AAA credit rating" either because it fails to address any of the underlying issues or reasons as to why we are at this crisis point to begin with.

massive debt began to accumulate because of multiple wars and massive tax cuts for corporations and the very wealthy. (remember, when Bush took office in 2001, there was a budget surplus - this problem literally did not exist.)

hostage-takers Boehner (and the Teabaggers for that matter) changed the debate from "JOBS" (something everybody understands) to "DEBT CEILING" (so huge and complex i doubt some economics professors can even grasp it).

with this so-called "deal" the President announced "the lowest level of domestic spending since Dwight Eisenhower was president".

(that's pre-Cousin Brucie, boomers. when Eisenhower left office fifty years ago, a new Chevrolet cost $1,800, a dozen eggs cost 52 cents, sirloin steak was 89 cents a pound, the average household income was $7,000 a year and a telegraph was the most efficient way of conveying a message.)

two days before Dwight Eisenhower left office, the former Five-Star General left us a little message about how his former boss, the US Military, might just ruin our democracy.

we didn't listen to Dwight Eisenhower.

therefore, welcome to Austerity 2012!

NEVER MIND THE MURDOCH - WTF IS WITH ALL THESE TOOL-USING-ANIMAL STORIES?!

its bad enough that the Bildergons all lie to us about September 11th and the moon landing and Michael Jackson being dead...but dude! what the organic hay is up with all these animal stories where they're using tools?

i mean last week whenever it was that fish that used the clam to scoop the ocean floor (ask Jeeves) and now the Beeb reports of a mandrill giving itself a pedicure.

i mean, c'mon, tool using used to be the line of demarcation between homo erectus and beastie (in the days before evolution and the wimmen voting thing). now every primate and primitive ocean dweller seems to qualify as a tool-using entity, or something. below you can see that mandrill qualifing.

(actually its just a video of a monkey poking his foot with a stick, which i guess crosses the line of demarcation. be sure to dump out before the monkey smells the stick.)

unholy if you ask me. does Mr. Michelle Bachmann know about this? if he can pray away unnatural gay, maybe his congregation can pray away the unholy of beastial tool usage. that is if he isn't too busy picketing dead soldier's funerals.

TABLOID REASONING

Rupert Murdoch didn't become the media godfather by being stupid.

earlier today, he announced that the 168 year-old News of the World would cease publication sunday because of the UK hacking scandal.

... oh REALLY? he's killing the most widely-read English-language newspaper - out of SHAME?!?

no, a far more likely reason is revealed by Alison Frankel at Reuters:

According to British media law star Mark Stephens of Finers Stephens Innocent (whom The Times of London has dubbed “Mr Media”), Rupert Murdoch’s soon-to-be shuttered tabloid may not be obliged to retain documents that could be relevant to civil and criminal claims against the newspaper—even in cases that are already underway. That could mean that dozens of sports, media, and political celebrities who claim News of the World hacked into their telephone accounts won’t be able to find out exactly what the tabloid knew and how it got the information.

If News of the World is to be liquidated, Stephens told Reuters, it “is a stroke of genius—perhaps evil genius.”

RAPE VICTIM WAS ASKING FOR IT

not only did she fake the DNA evidence with her third-world voodoo, not only did she bruise her privates to frame an innocent billionaire but NOW that dreadnaught of journalistic integrity the New York Post reports - she was selling her pussy as well.
don't we have immigration laws in this country? shouldn't any immigrant who has the temerity to charge a white man with a crime be immediately deported to Afganistan and made to wear a burka? after all, this man of integrity was head of a bank that controlled like, three-quarters of the world economy, and just look at the fine job he's done in the past few years. it makes you wonder...

FCP X: TERMINAL

i have never owned a PC. never.

two decades ago i switched directly from Commodore Amiga computers to Macs because Macs were the only platform that gave me pro video capabilities. (in those dark days, pro video software - Avid, Premiere and Media 100 - could not even run on a PC.)

ten years later, Apple introduced Final Cut Pro. as an editor, i was really attracted to some innovative features that other programs did not have, and: it was cheaper and sexier than the others.

Apple developed FCP into a full featured production suite which satisfied most any professional need, and continued to innovate and expand the product line so that any serious editor using FCP would stick with it, and invest in Apple hardware as well.

so for the past decade, i have continued to buy upgrades and invest in "muscle car" Macs. my system cost about $11,000, the Final Cut Studio software was $1,300. practically every project i have edited for the past decade has been on FCP including a feature length documentary (which won several awards, thank you).

like many others, i have been waiting for the new FCP release for two years now. (i was ready to plunk down the cash for it this past paycheck.)
Apple blew it. the new FCP X is severely limited when compared to Final Cut Studio, and it cuts off many work flows which are standard operating procedure in this business. for instance, FCP X can't capture or output to tape without some third-party workarounds. (yes, i KNOW videotape is dead. try telling that to a client on a deadline who is waiting to deliver - get this - a finished HDCAM videotape.)

worse news is that FCP X is completely incompatible with any existing FCP project. if you started a project in FCP 7, FCP X won't open it. Apple has eliminated the EDL (edit decision list, an ancient but ubiquitous file format containing every in and out point of every edit on the timeline) or any ability to export files to Avid, or Pro Tools, etc.

for many people who edit weddings, for instance, FCP X will be great. if the project is imported and outputted on the same system, fine. but for anyone who has had to work with an audio house, or work with other editors or even other editing platforms (meaning almost all professional editors) FCP X STINKS.
the other limitations have been well documented here and here.

every other pro editor i have spoken to is now considering Avid, and wondering why we should pay a premium for Apple's hardware when PC platforms are so much cheaper.

i once worked for Panasonic selling pro gear to broadcast clients, and someone in the company gave me some perspective: "sure, Sony and Panasonic make a profit with the broadcast gear, but it is pennies compared to what they make with consumer gadgets". Apple gets this logic, and maybe they have decided that all the coding and development and third party integration just ain't worth it compared to the massive profitability from ipads and iphones.

Apple, it seems, is abandoning the professional and broadcast market, and after years of investing time, money, and infrastructure in Apple - we are PISSED. unless they fix this FAST - professionals will abandon Apple - forever.

PC's aren't sexy, but we got deadlines. jobless ain't sexy neither.

TOO RICH TO BE GUILTY

while the nation obsesses with the Kaylee Anthony trial, the gazillionaire who (allegedly) raped a hotel maid walks.

although the Manhattan D.A. says the case is still ongoing - at noon on a friday before a summer 3-day weekend - Dominique Strauss-Kahn is now free because of "credibility problems" with the victim - meaning his people got to her family - with cash.

the D.A. now has doubts because the victim, it seems, lied when she applied for asylum so she could enter the U.S.

Strauss-Kahn, the former head of the World Bank, was released on his own recognizance. despite the DNA evidence. hell, Strauss-Kahn himself admitted that he fucked this maid. the whole case hangs on whether this was consensual or not. (that is, until today.)

so who gives a flying...ok, i'll rephrase that, who cares that she lied when she was a penniless refugee? how many of our great-grandparents when huddled en masse on Ellis Island stretched the truth to enter the U.S? how many of America's so-called heroes lied about their age to join the military?

everyone, EVERYONE KNEW that this case would go up in smoke because a European man with so much money could never be held accountable for raping a lowly third-world immigrant hotel maid - because THIS IS AMERICA! OUR justice system just don't work that way!

enjoy your Independence Day weekend.

there's at least ONE FILTHY RICH EUROTRASH RAPIST who will.

GIL SCOTT-HERON 1949-2011

Gil Scott-Heron, the influential spoken word artist, poet, musician, and author - considered to be "the Godfather of Hip Hop" - died friday in New York at age 62.

from CNN:

It was not immediately known what killed Scott-Heron, who was best known for the 1970 song "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised," a politically and socially charged song that examined the African American condition in America at the time. The song was banned by some radio stations.

Born in 1949, Scott-Heron first gained fame for his poetry and spoken word performances in the late 1960s. By the mid-1970s, he had published two books of poetry and recorded four albums, including "Small Talk At 125th & Lenox."

His early albums, "Pieces of a Man" and "Winter in America," have been credited with influencing other musical genres, such as hip hop. But it was the song "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" that put Scott-Heron on the musical map.

His music has been sampled by everyone from Kanye West, who sampled "Comment #1" for his 2010 song "Who Will Save America," to Common's sample of "No Knock" on his 2008 hit "Universal Mind Control."

In a 2008 interview with New York magazine, Scott-Heron revealed he had contracted HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, after years of batting drug and alcohol addictions. In 2001 and 2007, he was jailed on drug charges.

one of his more wonderfully barbed pieces was inspired by the blanket pardon received by disgraced, resigned warmonger president Richard Nixon for any crimes he might have committed in the White House.

Nixon was granted this unusual pardon by then president Ford ("Oatmeal Man").

"We Beg Your Pardon, America" actually got some airplay on white rock station WNEW-FM at the time.

as with any great poet, his words from 1975 have a spooky relevance today. his scathing but eloquent (and highly entertaining) narrative about the disparate notions of crime and punishment resonates too much for a rap from 36 years ago.

my favorite line has to do with a leg condition Nixon had, which was cited as a factor in the pardon. the condition is called phlebitis...

UNION-BUSTING LAW TOAST

that Wisconsin law - the one that stripped firefighters, nurses, and teachers' rights and pensions - the one Governor Scotty Boy Walker (left) pushed through while the capital was under siege?

Dane County Circuit Court Judge Maryann Sumi has struck it down!

good on you, Dane County Circuit Court Judge Maryann Sumi!

from legalnewsline.com:
In a 33-page decision Thursday, Sumi ruled that the March 9 meeting of the state Legislature's Joint Committee of Conference violated Wisconsin's Open Meetings Law and that the budget bill "consequently has no force or effect."

The governor's bill, Wisconsin Act 10, has been a source of controversy for months now, eliminating nearly all collective bargaining rights for those public employee union members. Walker, a Republican, had proposed the measure in response to state budget deficits.

However, the law could not go into effect because of a temporary restraining order put in place in March by Sumi.

Sumi, in her ruling March 18, would not allow Secretary of State Doug La Follette to publish the law. At the time, she said a legislative committee violated the Open Meetings Law when it approved a new version of the governor's budget bill during the March 9 meeting.

Sumi reaffirmed her ruling in her decision Thursday.

dvtv live broadcast 5.12.11: A WAR NEITHER DESIGNED - NOR INTENDED - TO BE WON

they said: let’s become drug dealers – we’ll make a lots of money so then we can buy guns and grenades – with those guns and grenades that we bought with all our drug-dealing money we can attack synagogues – and then we can blow up the Empire State Building!
kind of reminds me of a plan i hatched when i was twelve years old – i would become a famous rock star – make gazllions of dollars – then i could fund my own films and become a famous director – never panned out.
one year ago Faisal Shahzad attempted to bomb Times Square. he failed to ignite the propane tanks in his SUV. i think perhaps he would have known how to ignite a propane tank if only he had attended high school in suburban America – instead of Pakistan.
how bout that underwear bomber who couldn’t set off the bomb in his underwear – and the shoe bomber who couldn’t ignite his shoe – and the pizza guys in New Jersey who were plotting to take over Fort Dix Army Base armed with pepperonis or something – hey: do you see a pattern here?
kids – if you aspire to be a terrorist – for Allah’s sake - please do it right.
enlist in the U.S. Army. Timothy McVeigh didn’t mess around with propane tanks or underwear bombs - Timothy McVeigh learnt from the big green machine how to blow up buildings real good!
we have spent trillions of dollars fighting the War on Terror – a war neither designed - nor intended - to be won. we have been told for ten years that terrorists are out there – a worldwide network of freedom-hating Muslims lurking in sleeper cells and operating as lone wolves.
if they are out there – how come our buildings are still standing? how come our planes still fly? how come our water supply isn’t poisoned? how come the White House isn’t a dirty-bombed radioactive hulk? how come we are not all dead? and how come - after ten years of fear mongering by two presidents – how come we are still falling for this shit?

NUCLEAR MELTDOWN? TRY POLYESTER!

now that the Fukushima Daiichi nuke disaster has reached a meltdown state, Tokyo Electric Power Co. will protect the world from nuclear apocalypse - with PolYESter!
as something like concrete will likely take years to build, this 55 meter tall TENT (that's 180 feet, fellow 'mericans) will: "help contain the release of radioactive substances into the atmosphere, the plant operator said Friday."
and this radioactive shield "tent" should be ready by 2012!
so we can all breathe easier...well we can all like, breathe, next year.
feel safer now?

dvtv live broadcast 5.5.11: WITH THE FISHES AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA

while America celebrates a well-deserved assassination - a fair question arises of what it all means.

does it make any difference at all if Osama bin Laden is at the bottom of the sea? the answer is probably no – unless your name is Barack Obama and you're facing an election sometime soon.

bin Laden is dead – do you feel any safer?

the way we - the Unites States - built up his ego over the last nine years - bin Laden must have felt enormous personal satisfaction in the collapse of the economy – Osama must have felt enormous personal pride when Americans at airports were forced to surrender their shoes – then their genitals – to homeland security clerks – he probably took full credit for every breach of the constitution committed after september eleventh.

is it bin Laden’s fault we gave up our beloved constitution? is it bin Laden’s fault we let the president lead us into a trillion dollar war against someone who wasn’t bin Laden? is it his fault – or ours – that we accept torture and other tactics once considered un-American. torture and wiretapping were something that happened in China or the Soviet Union – not in america. times change – bin Laden’s fault?

if all of this is bin Laden’s fault – he must be laughing at us from hell right now – he’s laughing so hard he just pissed his caftan.

we got him. we shot him. he sleeps with the fishes at the bottom of the sea. trouble is that after nine years - the damage is already done. his death is - irrelevant. al-Queada may be irrelevant. what we allow ourselves to accept is all that matters now.

THE STUPID HURTS

just saw the mayor of L.A. on MSNBC telling us to report suspicious activity - such as if you see someone taking pictures of "critical assets"...
oh you mean critical assets like Grand Central Station? the Space Shuttle? the 6 Train? (i like railroad metaphors.) the Freedom Tower? LAX?
note to self - less MSNBC, more RT.

WHO KNEW

turns out some in congress knew since January about imminent raid to nail Bin Laden.
the gaggle on MSNBC seems surprised that this information hadn't leaked before Sunday.
that's because in January, after being briefed on said imminent raid, those congress members reacted as one (and reacted with the only known double-positive-makes-a-negative in the English language):
"YEAH, RIGHT."
